With Retail Sales Steadily Increasing Year-Over-Year, Now’s the Time for Shopping Data

In May, the National Retail Federation (NRF) conducted a study in which they discovered which retail categories were increasing or decreasing over time. Here are some statistics that were especially interesting:
- Furniture & home furnishing stores’ sales increased 11.4% year-over-year
- Sporting goods, hobby, book & music stores’ sales increased 9.1%
- Clothing and clothing accessories stores’ sales increased 7.3%
- Health & personal care stores’ sales increased 3.1%
- Electronics & appliance stores’ sales increased 1.2%
These are just a few reasons why marketers should position themselves to online consumers – especially in the summer months leading up to back-to-school and holiday shopping (yes, already!).
